Hailey Douglas isn't exactly an adventure type of person. Since she can remember, she has never been the person to get involved in big situations unless it warrented her attention. Her chosen profession was heavy, even on a good day, but she had willingly known what she was getting herself into when she made that decision. Hailey was all about a simple life. Or one that she could keep as simple as possible because drama and situations that were just out of her hand were bound to happen to matter what. But buying a home, preparing for a family someday with the man she loved hit that simplicity right on the head. Her and Eli, curled up in bed on a Saturday night watching something random on television fit into that perfect idea of happiness for her. A teacup in one hand, and her head on Eli's chest was exactly where she wanted to be.

Except she wouldn't be there much longer.

During the commercial break, Hailey felt weird. Displaced, almost. It was a feeling she knew she had experienced once before. She could feel a headache coming on and she winced a little, Eli's concerned face bringing her back from the feeling of pain. "My head hurts," she explained and took a sip of her tea, closing her eyes for a moment. But when she opened them, she wasn't comfortably set up in her bed anymore. No, she was sitting in a pile of sand and she wasn't alone. Meditate, Hailey. Let us see where the strange forces we have no control over have brought us. Hailey sighed because she knew whose voice that was -- Heather Douglas or was it Moondragon? She couldn't keep track anymore. Her body temperature had risen and there was a few beads of sweat on her forehead. If she didn't know any better, she'd say she was in the desert. That dry heat, that never let up. Like her hometown in Arizona. Concentrate, breath in deeply and let's feel out our surroundings. It was like at once, Heather had taken over and there was a sudden burst of everything illuminating in Hailey's head. This woman was so powerful it almost overwhelmed her. It almost made her have a panic attack. But Heather knew exactly what she was doing. Regulating her breathing had caused her heartrate to go down and her body to stop sweating. You see, Hailey. With enough discipline of the mind you can control every aspect of this amazing gift. The body is a mysterious and wonderful tool to master.

Arizona. Desert. Not alone. She had not been given the gift of precognition, but Heather knew that something was at play here. "Forgive me for invading your minds." She said it softly and concentrated, projecting her thoughts out. Random beings thrown together, some with powers and gifts and others without. All of them equally confused to some respect. Some even half clothed. In that moment she could have easily projected her own mental thoughts onto them, told them not to panic, but in the end that might have just made them even more worried. It was clear that there was a reason all of them had suddenly been transported to the middle of the desert.

Eventually they all find their ways to each other. A rag tag group of basically strangers sent on a mission without so much as a warning. Once together, they share their collection of powers, though some are hesitant. Heather understands this, because no matter what the reason they are all stranded in the middle of the southwest, powers are at play. Alliances will be tested, true colors will be revealed. Heather Douglas knows that something beyond their control is happening, because it isn't the first time that she has been affiliated with what they are dealing with. An infinity gem. Once the word is said out loud, it becomes clear that the grogginess and collective groans of the team turn to a more serious task ahead. They need to find this gem, they need to contain it, and they need to hope above all that it doesn't get put into the wrong hands.
